Goodbye Decade, Hello Icon Team Video
I have received numerous questions about Decade as of late, and I’ve never really given a great answer. It gets me pumped to see that the interest is there, but my biggest fear is whether or not it will deliver. After thinking it over for months I had tossed around many ideas and finally I’ve settled on one that will make us all happy. Decade will be no more, the footage we recorded from last season will be saved; the best of it will be used in the first Icon video that will be released in early Fall 2009. There are a multitude of reasons for my doing so, and I want you guys to know them. Music rights were a total issue. I didn’t pay a dime for Enjoy the View’s music rights, but apparently the industry has changed in the past few years. I was only able to convince one band to contribute music. By waiting until next year, I’ll have over 4 solid months to edit and find music, most importantly with a budget. Secondly another season will give us a chance to land some of the tricks we never got last season, which I believe will make the video. Ultimately a two-season video will have the best parts possible. I want to make a section that I’m juiced on, and at this point I’ve yet to do so. I really want you guys to like this video, and be blown away by it.
Snowskating needs this video, and videos like this. We need to make videos that exhibit snowskating at its best in order for it to succeed. I certainly tip my hat to Ambition and all they are doing, and I feel that our combined efforts will really show the world what we’re all about. Snowskating’s reputation certainly is at stake, but fortunately we have dozens of talented riders who are behind it 110%.
While Decade is no more, the spirit of Decade will live on in the next video. It will feature some segments about our history and snowskating’s evolution. I feel that if we look at our roots and then look how far we’ve come—well that’s just the most beautiful and inspiring thing about snowskating. Look how far we’ve taken it, and who knows how far we’ll go. Anyway I’m sorry to be a letdown, but I truly feel this is for the best and that our new video will really redeem all of these delays. If you guys have any questions at all, I’ll gladly answer them on our forum.
