Kaylan Wiebe

Bio

How old are you?
21

How many years have you ridden a snowskate?
6

What setup are you feeling now?
Matt's board and the green/blue Fade with FS Grip or Xtremegrip.

What was your first setup?
Premier plastic G3, I believe.

Who or what got you into snowskating?
Couldn't skate in the winter, saw a plastic premier at sport mart, then decided to spend the cash and grab one. Showed it to my buddy and he asked me "what, are you going to start taking this seriously or something?" I replied with "no, I just thought it would be fun to try" and now, six years later, I'd say I'm taking it pretty seriously.

Fade (blue/green)Favorite place to travel, and why?
Only really been to Aspen for snowskating, but that is fun 'cause you get to meet up with all the other guys on the team and its good times.

Describe your idea of a perfect snowskate session.
Hit up a skatepark and have a blast on all the different obstacles.

After a sick sesh, what’s your ideal meal?
Usually ends with a pub and 3 caesars, but I usually dont eat that much right after a sesh.

Worst injury from snowskating?
White Contrast intro

If you could travel back in time to any point in your life, when would it be and why?
I'd do it all over again, but as to a specific date it would probably be when I was 15, skating everyday in the summer 8 hours a day, no responsibilities, just skating.

Kaylan WiebeWhere do you think snowskating will be in the next 10 years?
Who really knows, I look back 10 years ago to now, and snowskating hasn't made much of an impact yet. Hopefully with all these independent companies trying to start out right now, they can help spread the word.  I'm still not seeing snowskates in skateshops and people still ask me what it is.  Snowskating will continue to progress at this slow rate until good skateboarders start getting into it and opening up peoples minds about what is possible.

Paper or plastic?
Paper because it's easier to recycle and better on the environment.

Do you have any superstitious rituals before riding?
I always do three different groin stretches, Also I try to drink a glass of fruit juice before I go out because I have this weird thing that happens if I dont.

Is there anybody you’d like to thank?
All the snowskaters that support me in any shape or form.  Matt and his dad for hooking me up.

What advice would you give to newcomers to the snowskating?
Pick what you like to skate and dont conform. Don't skate to be sponsored, it's annoying.
