2010-02-28 In Travel News...
Josh Oakes just recently returned from a trip to Michigan to skate with Icon's newest addition to the team, Neil Berg. Rumor has it that some pretty gnarly tricks were done. Matt recently returned from a trip to Vermont, with this to show for it. Don't worry, some intentional tricks were done too.
Camera's in the repair shop at the moment, so capturing is at a standstill. Good news is we've got a solid Janebuary Edit coming in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out!
2010-02-22 Welcome to the Team
Quite a few sick things went down in Wisconsin. Watching Neil Berg ride was certainly one of them. I had heard his name before, but I know most names in our close-knit snowskating community. Long story short, the dude rips, asked him if he'd be down to ride for Icon and he was all about it. Keep an eye out for him, and Neil, welcome to the team.

2010-02-13 Midwest One-Two
With Icon's Josh Oakes, Matt Plays, and the rest of the sick riders in attendance, the 2010 Midwest Open was sure to be an amazing event. Such was the case, bringing in quite a few contestants and spectators alike. Look for footage in the coming weeks, and a more decent write up in the days to come. For now, here are the results of the Expert division:
- Josh Oakes
- Matt Plays
- Phil Smage
Thanks to Phil Smage and all the sponsors of the event. Keep an eye out for more about the Midwest Open and perhaps some team news soon to come.
2010-02-06 5-0's & February
These months travel by a bit too fast for my liking. January has come and gone, now we're cruisin' through February. Good news is, Matt, Steve, and Josh Oakes will be heading out to the Midwest Open of Snowskating in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Keep an eye out for updates on our update feed.
Next up for February we've got a new trick tip, back 5-0's. Check it out, learn a new trick, and hear Matt's goofy, temporarily acquired accent. That's what you get for spending a week with a Wisconsinite and a Canadian. Eh?

2010-01-17 Go Snowskating Day Wrap Up
Well as many of you have already observed, the first Go Snowskating Day was a complete success. I'd like to thank everyone who participated, it certainly was a fun day. The session at the Icon Snowskates park went swimmingly. We even have a nice edit to show for it. Between myself and the all guys that stopped in, we were able to complete every task on the Go Snowskating Day list. Check it out.
While we won't be in the running for the contest, you can still find out where to submit here. Solid edits are already filling up my inbox! Keep them coming, and be on the lookout for more Go Snowskating Day media in the very near future.

2010-01-13 GSSD Changes
Despite our wish to have a low-key get together, the town of Hudson considered Go Snowskating Day an organized event. As an organized event, we'd need to go through quite a bit of legal formalities. Instead, we're inviting everyone to the Icon Snowskates park in Uxbridge, MA.
Same time, just different place. The address is:
115 South Main Street
Uxbridge, MA 01569
2010-01-11 Image Method, Team Trip, & Go Snowskating Day
Josh Oakes made the homepage of snowskate media's newest website, Image Method. Run by snowskate veteran Nick Ahrens, Image Method will surely be a great source for the sickest snowskate content.
The Icon Team Trip is going extremely well. Hope you're all following us via our update feed. We've skated some really sick spots, and we have plenty more planned. Look for more content in the very near future.
Lastly, on January 16, 2010, snowskaters worldwide will be celebrating the first annual Go Snowskating Day. Icon Snowskates is hosting a session at Hudson Skatepark. The park is located at 39 South Street, Hudson, MA 01749. The session will begin at 11 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. Team riders Matt & Jared Plays will be present, and Icon demo snowskates will be available to skate. Hope to see you there!
If you can't make it to Hudson, be sure to organize your own local event, or even have a session with a couple friends. The whole point of the day is to get out there and snowskate - it's as easy as that.
2010-01-05 New Content & Team Trip 2010

Icon has made it easy for you to get ready this season. The new Icon 2010 Winter Survival Kit comes with a 2010 Snowskate, hoodie, tee, wax, poster, stencils, dvd, and stickers all for 15% off of what you'd pay if purchased separately! There's no better way to start off the season, whether your on the snow, or off, this kit will keep you stoked.
In other news, "Let The Day Unfold" DVD's are in and looking really sick. Those of you who have ordered will be recieving yours within the next few days. Lastly, keep an eye out for the November edit in the next day or two, it's sitting in a timeline ready for a few more tricks to be sent on over. It's looking pretty good to, I might add.
2009-11-29 LTDU Live Premiere
Last night's premiere of LTDU went extremely well. With over 50 attendees, the film got people really stoked and introduced a lot of new people to the sport. Everyone was pumped on the boards and apparel - people waited in line for purchases! Look for a more lengthy writeup in the coming days.
Thanks for all who attended, The Haywagon Restaurant for hosting the event, and everyone who contributed to the video.
2009-11-27 Project Seed Winners
Well guys, we've wrapped up another successful online contest. This time, we got to see some real passion from the contestants. Everyone is really down to spread the word about snowskating, making this a super tough decision. At Icon, we know snowskaters themselves are the people that will introduce snowskating to others, and expand our constantly growing community. Icon Snowskates is proud to announce that the winners of Project Seed are as follows:
- Nick Barney
- Pat Junor & Alex Pitzel
- Jake Boss
The winners will recieve a 2010 Icon Snowskate of their choosing which will serve as a tool to promote snowskating. Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all who participated!
2009-11-25 What to Wear 2010
One of the most frequently asked questions in snowskating is "What do you wear?". It makes sense, it's not quite the same weather conditions as skateboarding, and it's not quite snowboarding either. Snowskaters have to dress somewhere in between. Icon has come up with a little guide helping everyone out this season. Without further ado, I give you What to Wear 2010.
Speaking of what to wear, be sure check out our new apparel in the store.
In other news, Josh Oakes is on a trip to Colorado, purchasing a new computer and hunting down snow in shaded areas. His reports indicate that Icon Snowskates are super fast even in slushy conditions. Look out for his footage as well as more from myself and Jared in the November edit coming in a few weeks. Last but not least, Project Seed. Just a few days left to submit Project Seed entries, the winners will be announced this Friday!

Next week's edit entitled "Spread The Word" is awfully cryptic eh? I just had to. Discuss any speculations on the forum, and in the meantime, you'll just have to wait.

This week's LTDU edit's up, check out a Behind The Scenes clip with editor Matt Plays. Look for it in the Media section or the LTDU page.
Icon would also like to announce our new campaign, Project Seed. Here at Icon we want nothing more than to spread the word about snowskating, to share it with the rest of the world so that they can enjoy what provides us with countless hours of fun each winter. This new project creates the opportunity for three lucky riders to receive a free Icon Snowskate. In order to be considered, make a short video essay explaining why we should pick you! Learn more about Project Seed here.
2009-10-12 Stay Steezy Interview & Pre Season Action
Once again, Christopher Boe has provided the snowskate community with an insightful and informative interview, this time with Icon's co-founder, team captain, and technical advisor, Matt Plays. Check it out here. Thank's Ceb!

2009-10-02 Icon Snowskates 2010 Line
Here at Icon we've been waiting for this day for quite some time. Over the past six or seven months we've been working tirelessly on improving our already incredible product. This release is the culmination of our efforts. We've created videos, taken photos, and written about our new features so that everyone can get a feel for how much went into these boards. Our line is one of the largest, if not the largest, snowskate lines ever produced. Here are some of the major improvements:
- TrueConcave© Technology - Creates a 3/8" cavity on the top of the snowskate, while keeping the bottom flat, giving the rider increased feel, control and trick consistency. This has been the most requested improvement by snowskaters based on feedback from the community, and will appeal to skaters outside of snowskating.
- 32" & 34" Deck Sizes - Our snowskates are now available in two sizes, 32" and 34" long, 8.5" inches wide. The 32" board is great for technical street skating and is the obvious choice for smaller riders. The 34" board is perfect for snowboard parks, bigger gaps & stair sets, and larger riders as well.
- New Graphics - Our line features 8 full-color sublimated graphics. All graphics are available in both 32" and 34" deck sizes.
Things to Check Out:
Oh yeah, hope you dig our new look, we figured it was a good time to switch things up a bit. Lots of content has been added with the launch, and you can expect to see much more in the coming weeks, so start exploring guys! Discuss the new line and ask questions on the forum. This season's going to be sick.
2009-09-17 Fall is in the air...
Winter's right around the corner, and we're working super hard to bring your our new line. In the mean time, sign up for our forum and get pumped.
2009-09-08 Oops.
I apologize to anyone who visited to the site yesterday. Our server had some issues, but all is fixed now! Keep a look out in the coming weeks for more updates, you won't be disappointed!
2009-09-03 New Snowskate Communities
Man, just when I thought I couldn't be any more pumped on snowskating, I come across Christopher Boe's new site. It's called staysteezy.com and it looks like it'll be quite the community site. Gets me stoked to see so much hard work and dedication put into snowskating. We're the ones that are going to take it places, snowskaters have to make stuff happen, and sites like this are proof of that.
Check it out here
Also, in case you missed it, check out isnowskate.com too for another sick online community.
On behalf of Icon, I wish Ceb, Matt, and the rest of the crew the best of luck, and we hope to help in any way possible.
2009-08-22 Store temporarily unavailable
Our store is temporarily unavailable. We've been recieving several orders as of late, and with this season's line on the way we feel it's worth the wait for the new snowskates. Keep an eye out.

2009-03-16 Icon Welcomes Josh Oakes to the Team
As most of you know, Icon has added a new rider to the team. He goes by the name of Josh Oakes, and he rips. From his footage it was clear the kid had talent, but after skating and snowskating with him, I could see that he was overflowing with pure natural ability and a drive for progression. Placing second in the Icon Snowskates Classic, his first snowskate contest, he awed snowskaters and spectators alike with his smooth skate-style. With his sheer skill and great personality, Josh is surely someone to lookout for in the future of snowskating. Welcome to the team Josh.
Check out his team page here, and look for more pictures/video of Josh in the near future.
2009-03-14 Icon Snowskates Classic Results - New Icon Rider Josh Oakes Takes 2nd
The first annual Icon Snowskates Classic was a complete success. All the riders were stoked on the event, and it ran super smoothly. The results were:
1st Place Justin Majeczky
2nd Place Josh Oakes
3rd Place Alex Crowcroft
Everyone killed it, and our new Icon Rider, Josh Oakes, with his debut competition, took second place among seasoned veterans. Honorable mention to Team Rider Jared Plays for killing it all day. Congratulations to the winners, thanks to Stalefish Skate and Snow, Blue Hills, the judges, and all of the riders for making this a sick event. Look for pictures, videos, and a more lengthy write-up shortly.
