FAQ
Sponsor Me?
Being sponsored is a huge responsibility. First, we want to see you have talent. Secondly we want to see that you are passionate about snowskating and that you want to contribute to Icon. Lastly, we want to make sure you're having fun. If you satisfy all three of these requirements, visit the Contact Page to find out where to send a tape/DVD/link.
Do I really need Xtremegrip?
While it is a matter of personal preference, one thing's for sure, Xtremegrip™ offers an unparallelled consistency in grip no matter the conditions. It's no coincidence that many of today's most progressive riders use this product.
Which size snowskate is best for me?
We recommend the 32” board for younger, smaller riders, especially those under 5’4”. Those who wish to have a deck most similar in size to that of a skateboard also may wish to pick up a 32" board. The 34” board is the best choice for most adults, and those over 5’7”. The 34” board is very comparable to most snowskates advertised as 33”.
What should I wear for footwear?
Again, it is a matter of personal preference - finding a balance in warmth and maneuverability. Some notable options include water-resistant skate shoes (ideally with neoprene gaiter) & low hiking boots. Using items such as neoprene socks, plastic bags, and water-proofing gel can make your favorite shoes snowskate-ready. While there is no silver bullet for snowskating footwear, everyone can surely find something that works for them.
Are Icon's bases waxable?
Yes. Our UHMW-PE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) bases are sintered, just like most quality snowboards. Sintered bases when compared to extruded bases are: more expensive, faster, and have the ability to absorb wax. Every one of our decks is sintered, and finished with a layer of high quality fluoro paste wax. Check out how Matt Plays waxes his snowskate!
What are some of the benefits of TrueConcave?
With TrueConcave technology, the top of the deck features lightweight plastic inserts that create a cavity—much like that of a skateboard, enhancing board control & feel. TrueConcave allows for better maneuverablity of your snowskate, elevates your feet above the snow on landings, and ultimately allows you to feel better riding your snowskate. All of these factors contribute to a more enjoyable and better performing snowskate.
Will the TrueConcave kit fit my snowskate?
We offer TrueConcave in two sizes, one for smaller sized snowskates, the other for larger decks. Measure your board before ordering and select the proper option for your setup. To view the installation process, check out this video.
Where can I buy Icon Snowskates?
Icon Snowskates can be purchased online in our store, or at these fine retailers.
What is the difference between Corecut, and the Duraspeed construction?
Icon Snowskates offers two snowskate constructions, Corecut & Duraspeed - both methods of production have their own advantages, creating a perfect snowskate for any skater. With grooves cut directly out of our North American hard maple core, Corecut boards are the lightest decks on the market, feature a fast base and full-color sublimated graphics. Featuring grooves cut out of our UHMW bases, Duraspeed construction snowskates are fast, highly durable boards.
How much do Icon Snowskates weigh?
32" Signature Series 4 lbs - 4 oz
33" Signature Series 4 lbs - 8 oz
32" Standard & Team 4 lbs - 10 oz
33" Standard & Team 4 lbs - 14 oz
Xtremegrip packs will add 7 -8 oz, and the strips are only 2.25 oz each. All weights are with Trueconcave.
What’s the difference between the “one-offs”, and this years boards?
The “one-offs” are a corecut board like the Signature Series boards, with last years graphics applied. The biggest improvement we made from last season was with the speed of the snowskates.
